KITCHEN
“True Blue”
ABOUT THIS KITCHEN PROJECT
Our clients disliked their dark kitchen and especially found the layout useless. They had a vegetable garden in their backyard and often canned their vegetables and had little to no landing space next to their range which made canning very difficult. We opened up the wall between the kitchen and the table area to allow for more natural light to filter into the space. We also borrowed space from a closet in the adjoining office to create space for a buffet area and provide more counter space for canning. Bench seating was not only a space saver, but also provided additional storage. Decorative stained glass mosaic tile in shades of blue and white dresses up the range hood area and ties in the use of gold hardware. The kitchen elevation features a taller backsplash made out of the countertop material to keep the focus on the beautiful range tile. Two stained wood floating shelves were placed between the windows for display space since the area was too small for a wall cabinet. The table is highlighted with a three pendant light that features tiny holes to allow the light to filter through in a sparkling effect.
