KITCHEN

“Warm Welcome”

ABOUT THIS KITCHEN PROJECT

The tight feel of this original kitchen was the driving factor for the renovation. The clients wanted a more open concept to the family room for entertaining as well as an updated design. The family room was part of an addition that had a lower ceiling height that was hidden by the original wall cabinets that divided the two spaces. We designed the new kitchen by removing the wall cabinets and installing a wood beam that would serve as a decorative element as well as hide the ceiling height difference. The use of the beam material was repeated with floating shelves by the range and a faux beam above the kitchen window to tie in the material. The range was moved to the exterior wall to create a focal point for the custom metal range hood. The wall to the hallway was removed to gain space in the kitchen and to further emphasize the open concept to the space. The client preferred an island to have a spot to work or have a cup of coffee, so we designed a small island with an upholstered swivel stool to allow the clients a comfy spot in their kitchen. The peninsula allows guests to be a part of the action in the kitchen and the swivel stools allow them to view sports events, etc. on the TV in the family room. This truly is a welcoming kitchen for our clients and their guests!
