KITCHEN
“A Modern Classic”
ABOUT THIS KITCHEN PROJECT
This kitchen remodel was needed as the homeowners' appliances were nearing the end of their life cycle. They also had a strong desire for something different than their existing standard white kitchen and wanted to increase counter space. We widened the entry between the dining room and kitchen since the clients were open to having a more casual dining experience. This allowed for a larger peninsula for better prep space and to replace their existing banquette seating. The sink was re-centered under the window and the range was moved to have better landing space and to create a focal point from the dining area.
The client still desired using white as the main color of their cabinetry, but we recommended the use of Charcoal Gray and Stained Alder to create a classic look that would fit their 1920's colonial home. Subway tile adorns the walls around the windows to balance out the use of white on the opposite wall. Gold plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware add to the warmth of the wood toned cabinetry.
We refurbished an antique window we found and had it fitted with new glass panels and leading. This allowed us to replace the missing butler’s pantry window that had been covered up since the home was renovated in the 80’s. We also applied moulding to the ceiling over the peninsula to tie in the applied moulding in the dining room and to honor the old butler’s pantry area. The overall result is a stunning classic kitchen that the clients will enjoy for many years to come!
