KITCHEN
“Vintage Charmer”
ABOUT THIS KITCHEN PROJECT
Our clients moved to the Milwaukee area from California and as antique dealers, had an avid appreciation for older homes and all things vintage. Their 1920’s stove even made the move with them to Milwaukee! The existing kitchen was dark and dreary and the clients especially felt that it lacked character and didn’t reflect the age of their home. We designed the space around keeping the stove in the location that was original to the home and dressed up the original gravity vent range hood with crown moulding and a band of trim. The entire kitchen features black and white subway tile and inset cabinetry. The kitchen sink is actually a wall mounted sink that required a lot of pre-planning as we had to build out a wall to make the sink and cabinetry work together. Our carpenter dressed up the faux sink cabinet drawer with applied moulding to look like vintage vents that would have been seen in the original kitchen sink cabinet. The existing refrigerator had been placed on a pedestal that actually hid a portion of the ceiling leading down to the basement. We re-framed the entire area to achieve a flush wood floor and better placement for the refrigerator and adjoining cabinetry. The butler’s pantry was brought back to life with new cabinetry and walnut countertops. It was so much fun for our team to work on this unique project!
