KITCHEN
“COUNTRY MANOR”
ABOUT THIS KITCHEN PROJECT
Our previous clients decided to move and requested that we re-design the kitchen in their new home. They especially wanted to open up the space between the dining room and the kitchen to increase natural light in the space and to have a view of their backyard from the kitchen. The clients also wanted a large island. (Something they didn’t have the space for at their previous home.) We discovered that the kitchen and dining room had an attic above, so we started to develop a plan that included opening up the ceiling to create a cathedral effect. This also allowed us to install a new window up high on the exterior wall facing the back yard. Decorative stained wood beams were strategically installed on the ceiling to enhance the drama of the high ceiling. Inset cabinetry painted in two colors and a decorative custom metal hood are the backdrop to the open space. Little details, such as marble mosaic backsplash tile, decorative cabinet hardware, “X” shaped trim on the cabinets, decorative turned legs, apron front sinks, appliance panels and stained wood shelving can be seen throughout the space. Special attention was given to selecting the perfect light fixtures for this project. The adjoining “hearth room” was also renovated since it was open to the kitchen and dining room. Cabinetry was removed and the remaining niches were converted for log storage and shelving. The charcoal wall color contributed to the coziness of the space. The clients’ new kitchen is a real statement to pre-planning and master carpentry and our clients couldn’t be more thrilled!
