“Checkmate”

This powder room remodel was part of a duplex conversion. The original bathroom featured black and white vintage tiles that the client loved. We proposed recreating the floor with reproduction white hexagon tile with a black and white checkerboard border. This set the stage for the rest of the design, including the colorful black floral wallpaper and the black and white vessel sink. The vanity is a refurbished dresser that originally belonged to the client’s grandmother, but we rebuilt the drawer boxes and topped the dresser with an Imperial Danby marble countertop and decoratively shaped backsplash. We custom designed the crown moulding to add more whimsy to the space with domed dot wood discs from a craft shop. We also framed a niche in the wall to provide display space for our client. The result is an unforgettable fun space!
